Embroidery is an art, which arose from the collective creative work of many generations in Russia. In old times needlework together with the other handicrafts made our talented people famous throughout the world and the skill secrets of craftsmen of the previous generations must not vanish.
   The handmade embroidery craftsmen of Saint-Petersburg joined hands in 1998 to develop and popularize folk arts and crafts. The group includes 35 craftsmen. The director of The Creative Association "Lilia" is Lidia Goloubeva.
   At the V Exhibition-presentation "Woman project-98", held in Saint-Petersburg in 1998, the association "Lilia" got the award of the Second degree for the project "Creation a standing exhibition of handmade embroidered pictures in Saint-Petersburg", drafted out by the director of the Association L.Goloubeva. In 1998 the craftsmen took part in the Second All-Russian Exhibition "Embroidered picture-98", held by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
   During the last four years 40 city exhibitions has been held in educational institutions, libraries, galleries, city show-rooms. At present the group is engaged in implementation of the projects of creation of a handmade embroidery Center in Saint-Petersburg.
